Goodbye, Sweet Girl

Roxanne (11/27/01 - 5/5/16)
My heart breaks as I write this post.  Yesterday our beautiful Roxanne crossed the rainbow bridge.  In His love and tender mercy, God granted our most fervent prayer.  Roxanne died in my arms... at home... with David by our side.  After 14-1/2 years of love, service, loyalty, and joy, we say goodbye to our beloved Golden.

Where do we go from here?  We struggle to find our way.  In an attempt to regroup, we load the camper next week to attend the Overland Expo in Flagstaff, Arizona... a trip we had deemed impossible just a few weeks ago.  Then we head for the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers conference in Bryce Canyon the first week of June.  Perhaps next we seek our wild horse herd outside of Salt Lake.  How can we plan?  Traveling without Roxanne will be absolutely heartbreaking.

I had hoped to write an ode... a tribute... an eulogy.  All I can do tonight is to tell you how empty our house feels and how very much we miss our beloved Roxanne.

Until we meet again in that Sweet By and By, Sweet Girl...

I also said to myself, "As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals.  Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both."  Ecclesiastes 3:18-19a
