Koalas and Holidays

Our original plan was to visit the Australian Zoo and the Koala Sanctuary before we left Brisbane.  We discovered, however, that our arrival coincided with a two-week school break, the Easter holiday, and Anazac Day (Australia's memorial to their WWI vets).  Everyone who could take a break is on holiday now, and we are at an extreme disadvantage.

With the Australian Zoo offering incentives to visit during the vacation period, we decided it would be best for us to visit them on our return to Brisbane in August.  We did decide to go to the Koala Sanctuary and were so glad we did.  It was a great introduction to Australian wildlife.

We saw kookaberra...

Platypus... I promise to have a better photo later... once I download the videos and can freeze a frame...

And, of course, koalas.

Our goal is to find each of these critters in the wild.  Australia... here we come!
