Our motto has always been “never give up ground.” In a rare turn of events, however, we did just that today.
The large tent is proving to be too labor intensive. We are use to backpacking tents, which normally take less than fifteen minutes to pop. Our record is less than five minutes (with rain being the motivation).
So today we made the decision to do what I said that I would never do… purchase a trailer. One of my favorite sayings is this: If you want to hear God laugh, just tell Him your plans.” I love to hear Him chuckle. (And He seems to do so quite regularly in my life!)
As an end result person, process is not my thing… particularly when I’m tired. The tent, while it felt like a good idea, is much too cumbersome for our one-night stays. The new 4x4 trailer can be set up in less than ten minutes, can go anywhere that we go, and seems to be the only logical solution to our needs during this trip. Thank heavens we did the research about alternative options prior to the trip! Happy retirement, Babe! (And as an added bonus, do I see future camping trips with grandbabies?)
So tonight we sit in a motel room in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada, while the Kamparoo group readies our new Aussie trailer. (For a first-hand glimpse, check out the Kamparoo website, check it out at www.kamparoo.com.) We will pick the new rig up tomorrow, return to Dawson Creek, and let the adventure yet begin again!
PS For those of you at home, you realize, of course, that life is an adventure no matter where you hang your hat!
