Happy Campers

We have had a glorious Sunday.  Yesterday we left Mile Marker Zero and Dawson Creek to begin in earnest our trip up the Alaska Highway.

As we drove, we broke out of the plains and back into the majestic Rockies.  The views are spectacular with stony, snow-dusted mountains skirted by conifer forests and ruffled by racing rivers.

We spent last night at the Tetsa River Campground.  The owners are third generation, dating back to the original Alaska Highway in 1942.  The place is known for their baked goods.  They have cinnamon rolls the size of bread plates.  Generators run the entire site, which can be quite noisy.  Thankfully, they shut the generator down at 11 pm.  They start up again at 5:30 am so that the large RV rigs will have power.

We are beginning to see wildlife again.  We saw a mother moose and her baby, a coyote, and deer yesterday.  Today we have already seen stone sheep, an elk, caribou, a baby moose, and black bear.

Ozzie, the new camper, is working out really well.  He pulls very easily.  We're already setting him up in less than 20 minutes.  It's such a relief after a long day of driving.

This afternoon we sit at a lakeside camping site on Muncho Lake.  The views of Mt. Peterson are absolutely splendid.  The weather is cool enough for sweatshirts.  Rox is sunning herself after a dip in the cold water.  It just doesn’t get any better than this!
